Benbridge has been built from scratch by club members since 2015, Its based loosely on the Cotswolds, from about 1950 through to 1965. You will see a good range of steam and some early diesel running. The layout was named after one of the members “Ben” designed and built a bridge so hence the name “Benbridge”
Benbridge has a double track loop with a large fiddle yard to the rear, The station has 3 sections, one up and down with a fast line going through each section of the mainline. You will also see the branch line that comes down the hill and into the station. To the front of the layout we have a large goods yard for timber, cattle and coal.
Work still continues on Benbridge with a new goods yard being added along with a fairground and manor house being the latest additions to a new look Benbridge.
The layout is DCC controlled by tablets on a z21 app making identifying locos and running them easy for all members. Club members are converting the layout to run DC as well as DCC locos.
In 2024 Benbridge won best in show at Lymington model railway exhibition, A huge achievement for our members.
