Situated approximately 5 miles north of Blandford Forum, Shillingstone Light Railway was
built by Sir Thomas Salt between 1953 & 1954 to service his pig farm in the grounds of
Shillingstone House.
The line was worked by a small 4 wheeled diesel called Belle (after Sir Thomas favorite sow),
and was later used at the summer fetes that were held in the grounds of the house.
